Berkeley Readiness Month 2012

What is Berkeley Readiness Month?
It’s a month designated by the Office of Continuity Planning as the time of year when departmental continuity plans should be reviewed and updated. This process is known as an annual review. All departments that complete their annual review at this time will be designated as a “Partner in Readiness”.

How long do I have to complete the annual review?
You have the whole month of February to perform an annual review. This process is straightforward and done using the online UC Ready tool.

I just updated my plan, why do I have to do it again so soon?
This is part of a new campus-wide initiative to ensure that all plans are updated at the same time each year. Our goal is to create a collective effort toward campus readiness. The next annual review will not take place until February 2013.

My department’s plan is not complete yet. Can I still participate in Berkeley Readiness Month?
Yes, during this month, your department can move forward on completing and finalizing your plan. This is a big step forward in your planning efforts. If your plan is completed during the month of February, then you are on track to fully participate in next year’s annual review process.

What does it mean to be a “Partner in Readiness”?
It means your department has shown a continued commitment to response and recovery by creating and maintaining a continuity plan. Preparedness planning is an ongoing process and we look forward to recognizing your commitment to this continuing journey.

How is this reported up to campus leadership?
In March, the Office of Continuity Planning will be preparing a report for the Chancellor which showcases the status of all existing continuity plans. By completing your plan’s annual review, your department will be highlighted in our Annual Chancellor’s Report as complete and current - the highest distinction for continuity plans.

When is the next time I will be asked to complete an annual review?
The next continuity plan annual review will take place in February 2013.
